Governor Mike Huckabee Wins Ohio Christian
Alliance
Presidential Straw Poll
September 19, 2007
(Columbus) – Governor Mike Huckabee was declared the winner of a
Presidential Straw Poll held Tuesday by the Ohio Christian
Alliance. By securing 32% of the vote, Huckabee earned the top
slot in the straw poll conducted by one of Ohio’s leading
conservative organizations.
OCA President Chris Long said, “Our straw poll is an early
barometer of where the 2008 Presidential candidates are in terms
of support with a key part of the electorate in northeast Ohio.
The poll reflects where influential leaders and organizers who
move in conservative circles are at this time. I think the results
also demonstrate that conservative voters have yet to lock
overwhelmingly into any one candidate’s camp at this time.”
OCA’s Presidential Straw Poll was conducted Tuesday evening at the
group’s Freedom Banquet in Fairlawn, Ohio. Fred Thompson and Rudy
Giuliani finished second and third respectively in the poll.
“We have a strong track record.” Long continued, “In 2004, we
played an integral role in educating Ohio’s voters on the
Presidential candidates’ positions on important issues. We intend
to do so again in the primary and general elections in 2008.” |
