Columbus - Today, Governor Strickland appointed Eric Brown to fill the vacancy of Chief Justice Thomas Moyer who passed away on Good Friday.  "The problem with this appointment," stated OCA President Chris Long, "Is that Governor Strickland has politicized the appointment.  Eric Brown is the Democratic candidate for Chief Justice, facing off against Supreme Court Justice Maureen O'Connor.  Rather than letting the people of Ohio decide who will succeed Justice Moyer in the upcoming November election, Governor Strickland has politicized the appointment by choosing Brown, preempting the process. Ultimately, the people of Ohio will decide who will succeed Justice Moyer in the November election."
