STOP “HATE CRIMES” BILL

Senator Ted Kennedy recently offered his so-called “hate crimes” bill, S.1105, as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act to protect homosexual and transgender individuals under Federal hate crimes laws. Kennedy’s amendment may be voted on today or next week.

“What this amendment may very well do is make it a ‘hate crime’ to call homosexuality a sin,” stated Chris Long, OCA President. “What this has to do with the core legislation to protect our nation from terrorist threats and ensure a strong military is beyond me. It’s simply shameful that the Senator is attempting to advance this social engineering bill on the backs of America’s soldiers, sailors and marines.”

The House passed “hate crimes” legislation earlier this year in May. At that time, the White House released a statement recommending that the President veto the bill on grounds that criminal prosecution of hate crimes should be left to state and local authorities.
